Video Lessons on Guitar Warm Ups

It is very important to warm up when you are practicing or playing guitar. This instrument can be hard on your hands, wrists, arms, and fingers at times, and you don’t want to get an injury that will prevent you from playing for a long period. Not only can guitar warm up exercises help prevent wear and injuries to your hands, they are also just help you get your fingers back up to speed and allow you to play your best. Practicing these types of exercises will increase you finger coordination and speed.

One thing that is important to practice during warm up exercises is alternate picking. This is something that a lot of guitar players take for granted, but most people are not picking in the most efficient way. You want to have a steady rhythm of upstrokes and down strokes while playing anything. If you are playing one, two, three, or four notes per string, you still want to be alternate picking them. There are a few situations where other techniques such as sweep picking should be used, but a vast majority of the time, your picking should be in perfect alteration.

When warming up it is important to practice good technique because it will get you in the habit of it for the rest of your playing time. Don’t think that warm ups are below you and make sure to check out some video lessons on them to find out exactly what you should be doing. Warming up properly will get all of your practice sessions off to a good start and improve your playing in the long run.
